Skin tags are small bumps that can appear anywhere on the body. Skin tags can occur in men and women of all ages. They will affect about 46% of the population at some point in their lives. As a naturopath, I focus on each patient’s natural health and wellness so they can achieve optimal health. Here are some of my best strategies and solutions for getting rid of skin tags or preventing them altogether.
What are skin tags and what causes them?
Skin tags are small, noncancerous growths that occur on the body. Although their size typically ranges from 1 to 5 millimeters, they also have the ability to grow to several centimeters. Skin tags do not pose a threat to your health, but they can be unmanageable and cause discomfort. They may be embarrassing for some people.
Skin tags can appear for many reasons. Some of the most famous monsters are:
hormone imbalance
gluten
stress related to aging
bowel imbalance
Skin tags may be more common in people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. Gluten is found in a variety of foods other than bread and pasta. Some cosmetics contain gluten. However, there are some natural methods that can help you prevent or eliminate skin tags.
Home Remedies for Natural Treatment and Prevention of Skin Tags
1. Eliminate gluten in the diet, regulate the gastrointestinal tract, and avoid acne naturally.
People who have skin tags or want to avoid them should consider avoiding gluten and other potential allergens in their diet naturally. Healing your gut is important as there is often a connection between skin and gut health. Including probiotics in your diet along with appropriate prebiotics, fiber and other digestive aids may help prevent skin tags.
2. Balance hormones and prevent skin tags naturally
Controlling your hormones can help reduce hormonal fluctuations that can cause the formation of skin tags.
This is especially important for women in the perimenopausal, menopausal and postmenopausal stages, when hormones can be all over the place.
3. Exfoliate the skin and prevent skin tags naturally
You can get rid of skin tags naturally by exfoliating. Exfoliating with salt or sugar is something you can incorporate into your daily skin care routine, which can be very beneficial for some people.
Brown Sugar Scrub
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oil of your choice like jojoba, coconut, extra virgin olive oil, etc.
Combine brown sugar and oil in a mixing bowl.
Mix well. If necessary, add more sugar or oil to achieve desired consistency.
If desired, add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil to the mixture and mix.
When you’re happy with the consistency and smell, pour the scrub into a bowl and use in the shower.
4. Use collagen to prevent skin tags naturally
Including collagen in your daily diet can help prevent and treat acne. Collagen is a protein that helps form the structure of our cells and tissues. (3) May help regenerate skin cells and maintain an even texture. Collagen powder can be added to almost any dish, or you can make your own supercharged bone broth with added collagen for even more health benefits. Organxx Pure Collagen Powder is my favorite collagen.
How to Remove Skin Tags Naturally
Castor oil can be used to remove skin tags.
Use a cotton swab to apply castor oil to the skin tag. If you do this as often as possible every day, you may be able to get rid of it naturally. This treatment can only be used externally, and depending on the size of the skin tag, the process may need to be repeated for several days. One of my favorites can be purchased here.
Use the homeopathic remedy Thuja to get rid of skin tags.
It is an excellent homeopathic remedy for treating a variety of skin conditions including skin tags. Thuja dissolving tablets are available for purchase.
