They cannot calm the mind: Since their thoughts are fast, deep and analytical, they cannot calm the mind.

They want meaning: Depressed people are often fascinated by existential problems and eagerly search for meaning in their lives.

Depressed people often avoid interacting with others for fear of being abandoned.
They try to help themselves: These people may try to cope with depression in their own way, for example by taking a walk in the park, exercising, writing or listening to music.
